Bitcoin Aeternum I
Conceived as a bas-relief, in the manner of a monumentum, this drawing stands as a simple allegory of Bitcoin. It refers neither to a specific event nor to any particular narrative within its history.
At its center, the figure of Atlas no longer bears the world, but the Bitcoin token. This image, widely present in Bitcoin iconography, is here rendered within a classical language. In ancient tradition, Atlas is condemned to carry the celestial vault. The gesture remains, yet its meaning is transformed: no longer a divine punishment, but an act of elevation. What was once imposed becomes a deliberate gesture, raising the Bitcoin token like a trophy, in a form of tribute.
Along the frieze of the pediment, the inscription reads:
LEX AETERNA NVMERVS FINITVS EST XXI̿
Eternal law, finite number: twenty-one million
On either side, two opposing figures of Satoshi Nakamoto occupy the niches:
SPECIES – appearance, the visible yet deceptive, mediated image.
VERITAS – truth, irreducible, without a face.
At the base, two winged bulls stand facing one another. Their tension does not merely evoke a force of the market, but a more ancient, almost mythological energy, framing and setting the whole in motion.
